Computers use various input devices such as a keyboard or a mouse. One other input
device is the microphone. By using speech recognition software, a microphone can
recognise the words we use and by speaking, we can ‘tell’ the computer what action to
perform. Speech recognition software is used on smartphones, tablets, and computers.
By speaking directly to the microphone of your device, you can play songs, dictate text
messages, and even book a table at your favourite restaurant. Not only does this save
time, but it is extremely useful for people who can’t use a keyboard or a mouse.

Setting up speech recognition on Windows.
Windows Speech Recognition is an app that allows you to control your computer by voice.

In the search box of the taskbar, type ‘Windows
Speech Recognition’ and select the app.
After that, a new window appears. We 2
