            Ancient Egypt

Ancient Egypt was the birthplace of one of the world’s

            longest-existing civilizations.

A civilization is a stage of development where people

live together peacefully in communities that are joined

together by common aims and culture. Education, laws,

art, and music contribute in shaping the civilization.

The pharaoh was the ruler of the ancient Egyptians. The

people of Egypt believed the pharaoh had been chosen

by their god to lead them and to rule over the land.

Ancient Egypt passed through three major periods:

            A. The Old Kingdom:

The pharaohs built the pyramids during the time of the

            Old Kingdom.

            B. The Middle Kingdom:

The ancient Egyptian military expanded Egypt’s

boundaries to make it a larger place to rule and live in.

            C. The New Kingdom:

This is the most prosperous era for Egypt. It was ruled

by great pharaohs like Hatshepsut, Thuthmoses III,

Amenhotep III, Akhenaten and his wife Nefertiti,

Tutankhamun, Seti I, Ramesses II (The Great),

            Merenptah, and Ramesses III.
