Life in Ancient Egypt




            Agriculture, or the growing of

            crops, was important to the

            civilization of ancient Egypt. Many

            people grew crops to feed their

            families and the community.


            People would go to markets to

            trade goods, food, and services.

            Boys learned di erent kinds of

            work from their fathers. Girls were

            taught to be housewives.

            Wealthy people worked as

            merchants, or traders. They taught


            their sons to read and write.

















                                                                       Ancient Egyptians believed in life after

                                                                       death. They believed that their souls

                                                                       would need their bodies, so they

                                                                       invented mummi cation to preserve

                                                                       their bodies. Today you can see the

                                                                       mummi cation of ancient Egyptians


                                                                       in museums around the world.
