The Arab World before the Islamic Empires

Before the Islamic Empires emerged and the spread of Islam, people in the Arab world had a lot of

di erent religions and beliefs. Even though Christianity and Judaism, which make the non-Muslim

majority today, were spreading at the time, there were people who believed in natural powers and

spirits of the gods and goddesses, and they followed certain rituals to worship these gods.

After the spread of Islam, the area’s culture and social life went through a lot of changes, represented in

the end of slavery, the improvement of women’s rights, and changes in the family structures. Poverty

was also addressed, where one of the rituals of Islam is paying an annual amount of money to help the

            poor.
