Dear Parents,

As part of our social studies program, your child is learning about
cardinal directions. In class, we learned how to locate things using the
compass and location lines on Earth.

Here are some things you can do to reinforce the message of this lesson
and our related learning activities.

• Ask your child to tell you two things that they learned from the
lesson.

• When you are outdoors, stop and determine north, south, east,
and west. Have your child look for things in each direction.
• Play “Treasure Hunt” with your child. Hide candy in your house

and have your child look for it using a compass and a map you
have drawn!
